Small improvements, made simple

About The Aethernova Notes

The Aethernova Notes

The Aethernova Notes has published since 2020. We write about drive, going places and adventure, with a bias toward advice that still holds up months after the novelty has worn off.

How we work

We buy what we test and we live with it before writing about it. Where a recommendation depends on circumstances, we say so rather than pretending a single answer fits everyone.

  • We prefer the boring option when it is the correct one.
  • We revisit older articles when the underlying advice changes.
  • We say plainly when we have not tested something ourselves.

Who writes here

Beatrix Barros, Contributing Writer. Beatrix edits our coverage of adventure, and is slowly running out of shelf space.

Hugo Rowntree, Editor. Hugo edits our coverage of drive, and is happiest when a recommendation survives six months of real use.

Miles Okafor, Senior Editor. Miles writes the weekly column on going places, and keeps a spreadsheet nobody asked for.

Theo Ellery, Managing Editor. Theo writes about the practical end of adventure, and tests everything before writing about it.
